Cracker Cove is a collection of 37 Key West Style homes surrounded by the lush natural landscaping of Florida. When entering this small development, you are transported back in time to the calm and peaceful time of yesteryear. The homes in Cracker Cove are modeled after Florida homes from the early 1900s. The homes have wood or wood-style siding. They also have ornate moldings located outside of the home with copulas and gables. Tin roofs add to the charm of this community. This enclave of homes is nestled in the heart of the Bonita Bay Development. Just minutes to the Gulf of Mexico to the private beach Park with shuttle service, the airport, shopping and restaurants. Residents are able to join the Private Bonita Bay Club and enjoy 90 holes of championship golf, tennis courts and fitness centers, or join the private full-service marina.
The homes were built predominantly in the 1980’s and 1990’s. In 2012 Cracker Cove performed a major improvement project to the common areas. This included the roads, storm infrastructure, pool and pool deck as well as replacing the driveways and sidewalks with brick pavers. Another focus of the renovation to the common areas was to transform the landscaping to a more natural environment with native plants replacing most of the grassed areas thus eliminating the need for as much water and chemicals that are required for the grass areas.
Shortly after the community renovations were complete the owners of the homes began to renovate their individual homes. The community adopted a new paint palette scheme to better match the Key West Style homes. These homes range in price from about $775,000-$1,000,000. They have spacious layouts from 1800 to over 2800 ft. There are five basic designs for the interiors with the exterior looking similar. These homes feature a master suite, private sitting area and sun porch, two, three, or four car garage, ample storage space and two-story homes.
Several of the homes offer pond views or preserve area views as Cracker Cove is nestled between the small pond that is home to a family of 4 Tarpon and the preserve that runs to the west of the project.
A walking trail is located immediately adjacent to the homes offering access to the 14 miles of walking trails throughout the Bonita Bay Project.
At the center of Cracker Cove is the gathering spot for the community. The swimming pool and small community building. This is where the community typically gathers once per month for a small informal get together.
